Protection of COWS is Man's ETERNAL DUTY


From all perspectives, a Cow is worth protecting.   All the four main goals of man (purushaarth) -

Dharma (righteousness)Arth (prosperity), Kaam (desires) and Moksha (liberation) can be attained through the cow.  A cow is extremely useful in present times, due to the importance of material wealth.  By rearing cows, cow milk, clarified butter, cow-dung and other  wealth can be increased.  In our Country, where there is predominance of agriculture "krushi-pradhaan,"  the other animals are not as significant as are the cows and bulls.  Farming can be done using buffaloes, but they cannot do as much work as a bull.  A buffalo is strong, but it cannot tolerate intense heat.  When the Sun heat is strong, the buffalo sticks out its tongue, whereas the bulls continues to work tirelessly.  This is because the buffalo does not have the simplicity of a bull.  The requirements of a bull are far lesser than those of buffalo.  A camel can also be used in farming, but camels are fewer in number and more expensive than buffaloes.  Every farmer cannot afford to buy a camel..........

Cow is very pure.  Even the air that touches her body is pure.  The urine and dung of the cow are also pure.  The homes that are smeared with cow-dung are protected from plague, cholera and other deadly diseases.  During wars, the houses that were smeared with cow-dung were less affected by bombs, as compared to cement homes.  Cow-dung has immense power to absorb poisons , radiation etc.  In Kashi, a person died from snake bite poisoning.  People took his body to the banks of Gangaji to perform his last rites.  An ascetic (sadhu) asked what happened to this person? People informed that he died of snake bite poisoning.  The sadhu examined him and said, he is not dead.  He asked to quickly bring some cow-dung.  The cow-dung was brought and smeared all over the dying man's body.  After half hour,  a second layer of  cow-dung was applied.  Soon after, the the dying man started breathing and he was saved.  Cow-urine is very useful in curing heart related diseases.  All stomach problems can be cured,  by drinking about 11 to 22 gms of urine of a young calf.   A saint was complaining about asthama, he benefited immensely from taking cow-urine.  Nowadays many medicines are being manufactured from cow-dung and cow urine.  Even gas that can be used in cooking stoves is being made from cow-dung.   

The grains that are produced using cow-dung as fertilizer in the farms,  are of good quality.  The soil that is fertilized with cow urine and cow-dung, is far superior than the soil fertilized with chemical fertilizers.  One time a farmer who had grape farms, experimented and found out that the bunch of grapes grown with cow-dung fertilizer, were far denser and each grape size was larger than with foreign chemical fertilizers.  In a few years the soil becomes barren on applying  imported chemical fertilizers,  rather, the soil loses its growing potential.  However with cow-dung and urine,  the fertility of the land remains unchanged.    In foreign countries, vast amount of land has become barren due to chemical fertilizers.  Many of them are importing cow-dung from India to once again make the land fertile.  Ship loads of cow-dung are regularly being sent from India to foreign lands.

वर्तमान समय में गायों की बहुत दुर्दशा हो रही है। हम सभी के मन में गायों की सेवा करने की एक हार्दिक इच्छा रहती है। परंतु कैसे करें, ये समझ नहीं आता। गायों को अपने पास रखकर पालन करना कई कारणों से संभव नहीं हो पाता। ऐसी परिस्थिति में जो लोग अपना जीवन गो-सेवा में लगा रहे हैं, उनकी मदद करके हम कुछ हद तक गो-सेवा में निमित बन सकते हैं।

आज हिन्दू धर्म में इस तरह के भाव का आभाव हो रहा है। बहुत लोग प्रयास तो करते हैं, परन्तु दूसरों के प्रयास में अपेक्षित सहयोग नही देते।

जैसे अभी मध्यप्रदेश में हनुमान दास जी महाराज ने गो-रक्षा का जो प्रयास आरम्भ किया है, उसमे यदि हम सभी सहयोग करें तो बहुत सुन्दर काम हो सकता है।

[gita-talk] I don't feel that I am different from the body, what to do?

Questioner -  I don't feel that I am different from the body,  what to do?

Swamiji -  The body itself is "me" and it is "for me" -  this is association with "unreal" (perishable). You are real (imperishable), while the body is unreal.  You are imperishable and eternal, while the body is perishable and destructible.  Therefore how can you be one with the body?
Questioner -  We know this point, but this knowledge does not remain permanently.  What to do?  

Swamiji -  If it does not remain with you, then do you feel sorry about this? Do you see any harm, any loss in this knowledge not remaining or remaining (lasting)?  If you want this knowledge that "I am separate from this body" to last, then, you will find no obstacles at all in this. You are not sorry at all that this knowledge does not last for long.  Right now you are saying so, that this does not last, but at other times also do you remember this?  
It is not a rule that you are always able to find a way to fulfill the needs of the body.  As such the needs of the body are fulfilled on their own.

Praarabdh pehle rachaa, peeche rachaa sharir |
Tulasi chinta kyon kare, bhaj le Shri Raghuveer  ||
There is no contract on you for the sustenance of this body.  Simply by worrying about the sustenance of this body, you are intentionally causing turmoil and misery.  As such, this body will be sustained as it is supposed to be, whether you make an effort or not.  If you are destined to die without food then, however much effort you make,  you will have to die without food.  If you are not supposed to die, then whether you do not put forth any effort, the body will be taken care off.
You do not pay attention to this point that God has already made the provisions for the sustenance of this body, but not for the fulfillment of your desires and thirsts (Trushnaa)! Not at all!  Not one bit!  There is no provision for the fulfillment of such desires such as  - may I get so much of a something etc., but there is full provision for the sustenance of this body. He who has given birth, he has made full arrangements for its sustenance.  Had you or I produced the milk in your mother's breasts?   Had either you or I made any effort to produce the milk?  He who made provision for the mother's milk,  has he changed now?   Has he died ?  Has he changed the old rules now?  Therefore never worry about the sustenance of this body.  I do not forbid you from making an effort; make effort only for the sustenance.  This is because objects have a connection with one's actions (karmas).  Therefore perform actions, but do not worry.
