[gita-talk] The Bhagavad Gita - Daily Message - 15 / 9

Fifteenth Chapter

||   15 / 9   ||

śrotraṁ cakṣuḥ sparśanaṁ ca rasanaṁ ghrāṇameva ca

adhiṣṭhāya manaścāyaṁ viṣayānupasevate

The Jiva (Atman), with help of mind, presides over the ear, the eye, the skin, the

tongue and the nose experiences the objects of the five senses.

As a business man for some reason relocates his shop to a different location, in the

same way, Jiva leaves one body and enters into another body and as It was enjoying

the objects with attachment in the previous body, going into the second body starts to

enjoy the objects in the same way due to his old habit (swabhava or old nature). In this

manner, Jiva due to his attachment with the sense objects, again and again he whirls

around into higher and lower wombs. The reason is that by enjoying sense pleasures,

the Self becomes secondary while the body and the world become prominent.

Therefore the Self is termed as 'Jagat' (world) (Gītā 7/13).
