[gita-talk] The Bhagavad Gita - Daily Message - 15/7

Fifteenth Chapter

||   15 / 7   ||
mamaivāṁśo jīvaloke jīvabhūtaḥ sanātanaḥ

manaḥṣaṣṭhānīndriyāṇi prakṛtisthāni karṣati

An eternal portion of Myself only, having become the Jiva (soul) in the world of

beings; It attracts (assumes as his own) the five senses and the mind as the sixth,

Here the Lord has mentioned 'āivā' in the expression 'mamaivāṁśo' which means

that the Jiva (soul) is His fragment only and in It there is absolutely no part of Prakrti. As

in the body there is a mixture of fragments from father and mother, but that in the Jiva,

there is no mixture (union) of fragments from God and Prakrti, but it is fragment of God

only..Therefore, Jiva's relationship is with God only and not with Prakrti. The Jiva Itself

assumes the relationship with Prakrti.

Assumption of relationship with gross, subtle and causal body is the reason for evil.

The Jiva attracts (karṣati) the body meaning assumes as its own, but what in fact is his own, (God),  He does not accept as his own. This is Jiva's main mistake.

Our relationship is with God-- 'mamaivāṁśo jīvaloke' we are situated in God only.

But relationship of body-senses-mind-intellect is with Apara (lower) Prakrti, therefore

they are situated in Prakrti only-- 'prakṛtisthāni'. We neither had union with body, nor it

it is there, will not be, nor is possible to have and we were never separated from God,

nor will be, nor can be. If there is anything farthest from us, it is the body and if anything

is closet to us, that is God. But due to the assumption of body is me, it is mine and it

is for me, the man sees it just the opposite, meaning that to him the body seems to be

near and God as far! The body seems attained and God seems unattained.
