[gita-talk] Re: Why so much importance is given to The Lotus Feet of The Lord?

Respected Sir

It has been many years that The Lord has graced me with opportunities to listen
to discourses from ascetics & mahatmas and have been reading spiritual books. I
have remembered that I should have attraction and love towards The Lotus Feet of
The Lord. The Lord Shri Ram Ji also says to his friend Sugreev,

"Janani Janak Bandhu Sut Daara, Tanu Dhanu Bhawan Surhrud Parivara
Sabkai Mamta Taag Batori, Mam Pad MANAHE BANDH Ber Dori ....Us
Sajjan Mam ur Buse......"

I have not been able to grasp the meaning, value and esteem of The Lord's Lotus
Feet. Why so much importance is given to The Lotus Feet of The lord in the
scriptures, discourses and even by the Lord
Himself.

Kindly enlighten me. I know that once i will be able to learn, I shall be able
to take an actual step in the direction where I have been roaming around for all
these years.

Regards

Man Mohan Batra

because as per human anatomy the whole human body and its weight lies
on the feet and when we surrender to god, sharanagati we touch the
feet of elders, wash it during some rituals, same way when we
surrender to lotus feet, because we can not touch any other part of
god and seek benediction, if we catch somebody's feet and beg to
forgive with tears in our eyes, they will definitely forgive our
mistake..i india it is considered the way of confession, like in
church they kneel down and beg to forgive, same way when we catch the
lotus feet of god and beg to forgive he will definitely forgive...but

shine so that we can see our face as reflection, that is one form of
worship, our intention, conviction should be with out blemish
hence with out any second thought just surrender to the lotus feet of
god with out any shadow of doubt in it and he will rescue

Hari Om

Lord Himself has never stated anywhere , to my knowledge, that His devotees should give importance to His Lotus feet, including in the couplet quoted by you. It is Devotees of Lord who give importance to His feet out of respect. Lord makes friends ( Sakha ) not slaves. In Ramcharitmanas, Lord has friendship relationship with SUGREEVA ( BHOGI) , Vibheesana ( Sadhak) and NISHADRAJ GUHA ( Yogi/ Siddha). Lord loves SAKHA BHAAV ( sentiment of friendship). Arjuna was also friend only of Lord Krishna. However, devotees of Lord are generally seen to have a liking for DAAS sentiment ( Slave). When you have a sentiment of DAAS vis a vis Paramatma then which place can be more appropriate than Lotus Feet ? Hence the importance of Lotus Feet is from Bhakta point of view.

Rather than thinking excessively about Feet or Face etc of Lord, you may establish MINENESS ( MAMTA) with Lord in any manner. Some like to be friend of Lord, some like to be mother, some like to be friend, some pupil and some like to be DAAS (slave). Lord Hanumaan liked to be DAAS of Lord.

Jai Shree Krishna
