[gita-talk] Need Guidance on Quietening my Mind

Sir mera man shant nahi rahta h please guide me

------------------------------------------------------------------

Hari Om

The sole cause of turbulences, tensions and lack of peace of mind is " connection with the world / inert and thus DESIRE FOR WORLDLY THINGS, ACTIVITIES AND PEOPLE. Both Swamiji Shri Ramsukhdasji Maharaj and Holy Gita insist that your mind can be quite only when it is DESIRELESS. Yes...all tensions and lack of peace is in mind but mind is not the creator or cause of them. The cause continues to be DESIROUS, CONNECTED, BOUND SELF. Yes...Swamiji said : Do not consider ( accept) mind to be yours ! But there is a difference between knowledge of this truth and the acceptance of this truth. We all " know" many things, but do we " accept" them ? We know whoever takes birth dies, but do we accept this knowledge when some near and dear dies ? We can't cry at all, if we really " accept" that. So long as you re connected with the world WITH " likes and dislikes" ( Raag and Dvesha), you MUST experience lack of peace. When you are "connected" with DUKHALAYAM ( abode of sorrows) with a like or dislike ...the only result thereof can be SORROWS, LACK OF PEACE, .....what else ?

''वह (मनकी शान्ति) आप ही के भीतर है (within you), बाहर नहीं है (not outside)।''

You may try not resisting your thoughts! Resisting the so called bad thoughts creates friction. If there is no resistance whatsoever first the flow of thoughts will be smoother, later gradually it will go to the state of almost still.... Then whatever emerges will be original to you...

Dear Sadhakas,
Hare Krishna.
This is in response to a question from a fellow Sadhaka.

Lord Krishna says in Bhagavadgita,
"Bhoktaram yajna tapas am
Sarvaloka maheswaram
Suhrdam sarva bhutanam
Jnatva mam shantim rcchati "
       (Gitaji 5, 29)

Which means,
' A person in full consciousness of Me, knowing Me to be the ultimate beneficiary of all sacrifices and austerities, Supreme Lord of all the planets and well wisher of all living beings, attains peace from the pangs of materialism. '

Devotional service in form of chanting     of the Holy Names  gives us the peace of mind.

Thank You.

Any attempt to act upon the agitation of the mind is addition to agitation. Just see:
You can save yourself physically.
But you can not save yourself psychologically.
And apart from immediate physical security, all insecurity is psychological insecurity.
You can take action for your physical safety.
You can not take any action for your psychological safety.
Energy is dissipated when one starts taking action (thinking) for psychological safety, security.
Energy is at the peak when no action is taken for psychological security. Awareness takes over.
Physical action is relaxed and conscious.
The original 'you' shines.

my fellow learner,aatmanaa aa
Man ki Shanti or peace of mind is not available in market or from any external source. mind has to be pacified tranquilized and disciplined by self effort alone. If you are a strict follower of Bhagavad gita content, you will find in the 6th chapter, Aatma saMyama yOga
uddharEt aatmanaa aatmaanaM
na aatmaanam avasaadayEt
aatmaiva hi aatmanO baMdhuH
a  .atmaivaH ripuH aatamanaH      6.5 Bhagavadgite
Here Atma is used in more than one sense. It is used for mana and  soul and self effort. Please try to understand this SlOka by self effort and then go the very next SlOka.
man ki Shanti is lost generally because one is worried about loss, defeat etc
Fear of losing what you have and not getting what you want is the main reason for man ki Ashanti. You must be satisfied with your effort and be resgned to the result. I know it is easier said than done. But by reading and hearing tales of such great men who could do that will help you. Do not go to babas abnd pseudo gurus and the so called satsangas of crowds for peace. IT is within you not outside.
God bless you

[gita-talk] Should one follow sect or organisation who criticize others paths in name of "ananyata"?

Should one follow sect or organisation who criticize others paths in name of "ananyata"?

One of my friend is in an organisation whose founder criticized followers of other paths as "mayavadis". For them, hearing the teachings of "advaita" path is like committing spiritual suicide and association with people who follow "advaita marg" is bad company (ku-sang) which destroys devotion.

It seems to me that Swamiji's statement is referring to such organisations. Outwardly, thers organisations are following the bhakti marg (ananyata). But in name of ananya bhakti, they are ready to criticize other paths. This is quite dangerous when wrong teachings come in form of goodness.

Murti Puja (Worship of God through an Idol)

Question - Nowadays the times are not as they were before, the Muslims are not destroying the temples and idols. Then too why do the followers of a certain sect criticize idolatry and worship of God endowed with form

Answer - To criticize any one is to have insistence on your own sect and ways; because those who criticize other sects (other beliefs and opinions), do not want to realize the essence of the Supreme Consciousness (Paramatmatattva), they do not want their own salvation, rather they want their individual form of worship, they want to expand their sect's numbers, they want to propagate their sect and organization. Believers in such sects and groups will not realize God. Those who have insistence of their own sect,  organizations and groups, they are of certain system of opinions, doctrines, religious, philosophical persuasions and such people's talks are not worth believing and accepting - People who have insistence on their own sect, belief systems and opinions, cannot know the Essence (tattva). (Manas 1/115/4)  (to be continued)

[gita-talk] Seeking Gita's View on Praising our own Doctrine and Criticizing Other's Doctrines

Swamiji has prohibited praising one's own doctrines (philosophies, views, opinions etc) and criticizing other's doctrines, philosophies etc  (Sadhan, Sudha, Sindhu pg.  727 - 729).

According to Gita,  is "praising our doctrines (views, opinions, philosophies) and criticizing other's doctrines"   a good deed, or bad deed?

Please explain in easy to understand words.  Humbly,  Sadhak
